well. this weekend we went out to town and did some local things.
i got addicted to pink swirl frozen yogurt.... mmm... i could go for some now that i mention it.
but on saturday night, after a long full day of work, bustling around to get set up for youth camp, me and my two new besties decided to got to the movies. xmen was the feature of choice.
so we load up on pop corn and sour patch kids and a giant drink to share.
as the movie starts KH gets up to go get her own soda because she didn't like what we got. but KB misunderstands and tells me she was going to get what we already had. so i said, "that's what we have" so KB goes sprinting after KH into the lobby hollering "she's got coke! emily's got coke!!" so KH comes back in and sits down.
KB appears a few minutes later. as she's running up the stairs in the dark she trips and falls....causing us to erupt in laughter. then as she scurries to her seat she's frantically whispering "guys. guys... i just had to tell you..... i dropped my bag in the toilet" so of course we are still laughing.
then about 20 minutes late, a kid is walking down the stairs and trips and falls. which normally wouldn't be funny, but then the poor child just lays there for a good 30 seconds before getting up. just laying there. maybe she was hoping that we'd forget about her and she could sneak out... i don't know. but it was funny.
then KH accidentally dumps all the sour patch kids out on the floor. she puts them back in the bag so they aren't strewn about getting stuck to our shoes. but then a little later she'd forgotten about their former plunge to the movie theater floor and goes to eat some of them. but thankfully KB slaps her hand and reminds her.
so all of that plus the hilarious corny-ness of the movie itself made for a very laughy evening. plus i think we were all just generally jazzed to get away from camp for a bit.
sunday KH and i decide to go out into the arbuckle mountains and get some solitude. so we choose turner falls park.
bad. idea.
it was jammed packed full of families and was super trashy.
literally and figuratively.
so we tried to get our 12 dollars worth and waded down the river to a semi-quiet spot for a bit. but then the pink swirl fro-yo craving hit and we had to leave.
then later we had a disastrous late night meal adventure. we missed dinner at camp because we were working to get stuff ready. so later on we went to sulphur, ok to see what was open. given that it was nearly 10pm not much was happening. so we landed on Braum's. i had always thought Braums was like a baskin robbins. who knew it is part-super market, part-fast food joint and part ice cream parlor.
we didn't.
had we known we may have kept on driving.
it was dirty filthy gross in there. there was what appeared to be a "family" in line in front of us. one man. multiple wives. there was a grocery section..... weird. oh and terrible customer service. by the time we broke free we stunk like fast food. KH realized she forgot a straw and threw a hilarious hissy fit about having to back in.
aaaaawe. so none of that was prabably very funny - but believe you me... it was in the moment.
so i am still working on remembering to take some pictures of our golf cart among other things. but when i do - posting them for sure.
this week is basically how the rest of the weeks are going to go. and it is going to be craycray (crazy).
breakfast lunch and dinners in cabins with churches. a different one every meal. every day. then devotional every night that start at 10:15pm.
and in between all that i'll be working at the mission-center answering questions and trying to engage the campers in prayer and missional thinking.
plus trying to get some quality time with the students that work on staff here....
aaaagh. head about to explode.
but the weather is nice. the food is abundant. the people are generally sweet. and there's the golf carts...

1.Having attended Falls Creek as a youth and having worked there for 2 summers, this blog makes me laugh.
(I technically worked at the GA camp called Nunny Cha-ha inside Falls Creek. Great name, right?)
2. Ahhh, Sulpher. Gotta love the smell.
3. SO sorry about Braum's. I promise they are not all trashy!
