i didn't even wet myself

so last night was my first public (not in church) playing of the guitar since being back.
it was fun.
God broke my guitar.
seriously. saturday i started with the wrestling match that always happens when i get asked to play. i get all freaked out about not being that good and then it is just like a little cartoon cloud of dust fight scene with arms and legs occasionally jabbing out.
the conviction that it's not about me usually is the conclusion factor.

anyways. i was in this battle and changing the strings on my guitar when the tuning knob fell off. there was no snapping sound. no excessive strses being put on it. it just silently came off in my hand.
i thought it was a screw loose or some other type of quick fix. but no. it is broken. the metal that connects the knob to the part that's screwed on to the guitar is broken.

i was a little mad about it - but realized that there was nothing i could do right then.
then sunday rolled around and i really wanted to practice all my songs to get ready. but i couldn't. instead of hunting down a guitar i could use - i chose to rest in the irony of it all. God was teaching me that it is really not bout me. so i loved the opportunity to not practice and fret. i just let it go. so when i showed up at the coffee shop (planning on just using the other musician's guitar) it was surprisingly stress free.

there was a decent turn out - and since i knew about 90% of them it was really fun. they sang along at one point.

 it was good.

and i didn't even wet myself or feel nauseous. or get all weird about wanting to leave right after....
praise God for answered prayer!

YAY! That is a sweet story. I'm glad you stayed dry. And that your heart was at peace. I hope you get your guitar fixed simply and cheaply. Crazy that it busted. I found scratched and rust on mine... and a giant crack down the front of the body. It made me sad, cut most of those injuries did NOT occur from playing it to pieces....
Love you. Wish I coulda heard you at the coffee shop. I'm sure you were an inspiration to many.
