may seven
what a day.
yesterday i went walking with a new friend and one of her friends. they were talking about the squat challenge. so this morning (while subbing - today my class size averaged 2 students. so it was a pretty quiet day) i looked it up. there are a bunch of different ones - but after reading on a bunch of sites, i got sold on taking it on. supposedly it will affect my balance, hip and knee tendons and ligaments, thighs, hams, glutes and core muscles all in a positive way.
i got my sister on board. and may have even gotten my husband on board too! in trying to talk him into it - he upped the aunty to include a 30 day ab challenge. its resting days line up with the squats - so it's a go.
don't worry - i won't be posting any before-progress-after photos. no one needs to see that.
i have decided the mind set i would like to adopt and hold fast to concerning working out is "HEALTH". it's about being healthy and able bodied. not about a certain size or weight or having a cut bod. those are natural outcomes. the evidence of health. but the root of it is health. having my organs function properly in cooperation with each other. being able to help my grandparents and parents and sisters with manual labor and chores and moving. being able to walk my dogs and give them the exercise and attention they need. having energy. sleeping well.... all of these things are good and desirable things.
i want to be healthy.
today i was all about being on that wagon again too.
after school and a couple thrift shop visits i made out a the 30 challenge calendar:

knocked out day one.
then i painted the picture frames i got at the thrift shop and updated our deer decor a tad:

then i took the dogs for a jog and ALMOST DIED!
the last little stretch comes after a quick cut down an ally. in the ally i was trying to not step on thorn bushes when i heard a swish swish noise. i looked back and a HUNORMOUS (as my darling nephew would say) snake was zig zagged with its head up off the ground in defensive strike position. i barely missed stepping on that thing! eeeeeeeeek! minnie was dancing around it trying to decide if she should sniff it  when i hollered at her to come on. i didn't hear any rattling and i couldn't see the end of its tail in the bushes. it was light colored and about 5+ feet long. no lie.
my heart rate was up. that is fo sho.

when we got home i made myself the best salad i've had in a while (lettuce/spinach, pecans, tomatoes, orange bell pepper, cabbage, avocado):

and now i am blogging to try and distract myself from driving to the corner store to get a king size anything chocolate. seriously.... it's calling me. eeemmmmilyyyyyy.
i had a slight sugar-hangover this morning from all those marshmallows i gorged on last night. regrettable. no doy. so i am just trying to remember that feeling to detract from the intense allure that a snickers is having right now.
oh man. drooling.

alright gotta go feed the dogs.

Well? What happened?!?!? Did the siren call of snickers get you? It almost always gets me, usually about one week out of every month.

Yum. That salad looks de-lish! Also, glad you didn't get maimed by a rattler.
