may nine

today subbing felt like being in a small dimly lit gym where kids were playing full court basketball while other kids were using half the court to play wall ball and the remaining ones were sitting in the bleachers throwing flat footballs at random into the mix. oh and there's frisbees flying.
oh wait... that's what was really happening.
the last few days have been a bit of a whip in the sub world. i will not take this opportunity to rail on the failing public school system and the destructive nature of the ridiculous imposition on quality of education by the standardized testing. but i won't.
but while these tests are being done the student not testing have to show up to school and do nothing. they are corralled into "study hall" where another sub and myself try to contain them. all 100ish  plus of them. during a few periods we get to go to the "little gym" and let them run buck wild. it is exhausting.
i know it sounds like i am a lightweight. but so many kids. so much chaos. so little control. so much pointlessness. so little education.

aaanyhoo.
i did not get up this morning. actually - i did. but hazel wasn't awake yet and my logic was waking her up and taking her out would only give her more energy to destruct things til i could get home and jog her again.
in retrospect i guess that logic may be flawed.
but at any rate, when i got home from school i took all three on a jog. hazel was moving ever. so. slowly. then she pooped right in the middle of the street (give us another week and you will be able to follow our route perfectly by connecting the dots that google earth will no doubt be able to pick up. she's a big dog.) anyways. after that she kept just barely going. so slow. i stopped and looked at her feet and her front left is torn on the middle pad. poor girl. i felt so bad for dragging her along a mile on hot asphalt with a wounded foot.
now she's limping around the back yard. but on the up-side, it may impede her digging.

also, update on the onion episode. washing, rewashing and washing in the dishwasher did not put much of a dent in the aroma. i opened the cabinet where we keep tupperware and there it was.
so i found it, easily, and threw it away.

well. it is time to vacuum.
i really like vacuuming. is that weird?

It's not TOO weird. Especially if you like coming over to your sister's to vacuum.
