missed a few days, didn't i?
well, we left town on the 11th to go visit moms for moms' day. it was great. moms are so special.
i know i am very grateful for mine.
she has taught me a lot in this life. my spiritual emotional and physical growth was entrusted to her by God, and she has been an excellent steward - if i do say so myself.

sadly, on mothers' day we found out that my father-in-law's mother had passed away early that morning.
we drove up to oklahoma for the funeral tuesday and wednesday. it was an interesting experience. i feel like God was showing me a lot about living this life well and in a way that will bless people - even in death.
we stayed with great aunt jean on her beautiful and very peaceful farm. it was a sweet place to be in that moment.

we got back last night only for my dear husband to have to turn around and drive another few hours for what would turn into a 21+ hour work "day".
we've been putting in a lot of long and strange hours the past several weeks. but God is definitely working in it. providing strength and optimism (my husband is an incredibly optimistic person by the grace of God. so we complement each other... haha. admittedly i am a little more cynical. or as we cynics say: realistic... but really i am being convicted about it just being glass is half empty....).

today i subbed.
the major news in the high school is that there is now a strict no phone/electronics policy in effect.the little dummies are calling it Auschwitz and making lots of references to the Holocaust - the little turds.
from what i gather, there was an incident involving inappropriate photos being tweeted or vined or posted on some social site... or maybe just showed around by individual recipients... who knows the truth after a day of rumor milling. anyways. it is two weeks until school is out and these poor little babies have never know life without a smart phone in their hand. so naturally they are uproariously upset. but i have no pity for them. none. i think it is absolutely absurd the amount of time they spend on their phones and the amount of gory details they divulge about their lives for the whole world to see. there's all kinds of bad crap going on because of these teens and their dumb phones.
i remember the days of no cell phones.
then there was that bag phone we got to put in the car when we went on trips.... then there was emily brown's satellite moonwalker phone...that thing was huge. then the bricks. then the flips. then the sliders.... as the cellular devices evolve i firmly believe the moral and ethical and intelligent make up of humans devolve.

it is now 11 pm and i got to sub tomorrow too. looking forward to more irate teens and their soap box speeches about the questionable legality of the school administrators taking away their cell phones. hah. what a load. it's in the conduct handbook. if they see it out - they can take it. you signed it, kid. you agreed to the rules. it's legal you dumb butt. calm the h down. you can survive a 7.5 hour stint without tweeting a stupid comment or ugly picture of yourself. maybe you'll actually get some work done in class now.
