SF to LA

well. we left the golden gate behind today. now it's back to the grind. there is some exciting stuff in the works for this weekend of intense training with CBU students. i've never done anything like this before.
LA is definitely a totally different feel than san francisco. when we were in SF i kept having to remind myself that we were still in America. so much of it reminded me of being overseas.
we did a lot of tourist-y things but not with any sort of itinerary, and truthfully - we just stumbled upon several of them. we took a ferry to get from our side of the bay over to the city. we landed at fisherman's wharf. that was fun. we saw the sea lions - or seals - or whatever they are. two of them were "fighting" the entire time we stood there. weird. at the wharf we also saw a breif magic show. well, correction. we briefly saw a magic show. we sat on the front row of this street performers' stage area. we got picked on a lot by the "performer" whose name was "Big Al Catraz". he was quite the showman. but as soon as he turned his back we took off running. i heard his scolding voice, drenched with sarcasm, fade off behind the din of carousels and children and seagulls....
we walked up Lombard street. i didn't take any good pictures of it. boo. but it was most def the steepest and longest hill i have ever conquered. hah. seriously though.... it was super tall.
we walked in china town. also - we walked across the Golden gate bridge. that was a windy windy experience. glad i did it. glad it's over.

ate indian food. chinese food. puerto rican food. had countless coffees. found some hole in the wall places to kick back for a bit...
it was a good trip. for sure.
i visited with some seminary students there and was enlightened to some of the jaw-dropping stats about Christianity in SF. sad sad. a very beautiful city. so dark. so lost. there is a lot of people there that seem to be doing alright - but most of them are living without real hope. truly unfulfilled because they are not filled with the holy spirit.
very dark.
very lost.

we're here now though, in LA.
such a different feel. it was a 45 minute flight and then a 2 hour van ride to get to CBU.
i had my first 'el pollo loco' restaurant experience. ugh. my stomach was killing me. but they had horchata on tap. who could pass that up?
bad day for that.
apparently i am only intermittently lactose intolerant. today i was. yesterday a giant milk shake didn't really phase me...
weird.
anyhoo.
here are some photos from our last day in SF.
