meet the family

today i met ukesella.
i had met her oldest son, rajm (pronounced like rhyme) a week or so ago when his little 8 year old self beat me at ping pong... i took a photo of him and had it printed to give to him. when his mom saw it she asked him to bring me over to take pictures of her newest baby.
i went today.
she is 22 and little santiago is her 4th child. she had rajm when she was 14. i did the math. the two in between are gabriella and jennifer ("like jennifer lopez").
gabriella asked if i read the Bible. It turns out they are Jehovah's Witness. Ukesella told me, she doesn't read the Bible because she can't read at all, but her husband reads to them and she believes.
then as i was photographing the baby i noticed a charm pinned on his clothes. i asked what it was for and she told me it was to help the baby's eyes. but when she tried to explain it i didn't understand her.
pray for this family to see truth. pray for the kids. rajm is so sweet and peaceful and a good kid so far. oh how sad it is that child-like innocence gets so brutally destroyed so fast in this culture.
