child of the corn.
the big grey dog is impossible.
i came home on my lunch break during subbing and found that she had wormed beneath the chicken wire that is supposed to be barring the access to the corner corn.
we planted corn in the garden but also in the corner flower bed. the corner corn is about thigh high and looking healthy. well, now some of it is thigh high and looking healthy. the other ones are now laying around in the grass all shredded up.
so on the lunch break she got whipped and ear pinched until i was sure the message had been communicated.
then i took her out with my bike and made her sprint a mile.
there. that should keep her from needing to be entertained by corn.
so then i come home after school and find more corn stalks had been extracted. whipping session commenced.
so i took all three dogs on a 2 mile jog. she was draggin' by the end of it.
there.
after they cool off, i feed them and pet them.
then a few hours later i go out to visit them again (and tell her to stop barking). and behold, corn stalks....
whipping and ear pinching.
i am not sure what else to do right now.
any suggestions on doggie discipline?

Jk, I don't really know. Does your dog whisperer husband have any alternative forms? Maybe a shock collar and you have to peer through the blinds with your finger on the remote and just spend your day watching and shocking her...

Rat poison on the corn? Syke. A small current through the fence might help, dogs, like people, don't enjoy getting shocked.
I like that you described the dog, the "big grey dog" because I don't know their names.
I would like to suggest a time out. Perhaps a stern talking to and a loss of privileges. If you take away her favorite toy for a certain amount of time, she's sure to wise up. Also, you could count aloud to 3 or 10 and let her know you really mean business when you get to a certain predetermined number. Since these things work SO WELL on kids, I'm sure dogs would really respond. Never spank. If you spank her, you will only teach her to be a violent dog. Also, you will irreversibly and permanently damage her self esteem and respect for you.
We had to get prong collars and make really short leashes (like 1 foot long) for our two crazies to finally understand who was boss when they hit the teenage rebellion stage. Just took a couple yanks usually and they figured out that whatever they were doing was not a good idea. We did have to pretty much watch them constantly for the couple days when the yanking was occurring, but it worked. I think the guy who advocates the "system" calls it "The Perfect Dog."
