Abrupt goodbye: broken pants

i knew it was eventually going to happen. i even knew it was going to happen within the next 6 months for sure.
it's just that i have had them for 2 whole years, almost to date. they were a souvenir of necessity from spain. you see, it had been very rainy everywhere we went and so my one pair of jeans that i had brought became smellier faster than i had anticipated. so in Valencia, the city with the blue roof tops and some great pizza, i bought a new pair. they were perfect. i seriously wore them at least 2 times a week if not 4 or 5 for two years. and they haven't, aside from the developing fringe on the bottoms of the leg, shown much sign of wear and tear...
tear...
oh sad day. so i pulled them off the drying rack to put on the other day and noticed that there was a very small hole starting between the back pocket and the center seam. so, in a stroke of genius i applied the 'panty hose run' rule. this, for those of you who have not been unfortunate enough to experience the panty hose world, is where you apply something like clear finger nail polish or even hairspray to the place where a tear is starting in hopes that it will not spread any further.
so i got out the closest thing to clear nail polish ... super glue.
as i was generously applying the bonding agent to the inside of the jeans, thinking for some reason that it was better that way, the tube had apparently sprung a leak and i noticed just before my fingers were permanently attached to the tube itself. so i tossed the tube in the garbage and then ran my super glue covered fingers under hot water... to what end, i wasn't sure.
it did do much except turn the now dry glue white on my skin. as i was drying my hands on a towel. the towel actually snagged on a piece of the glue and ripped my skin up with it. ouch.
so i spent the rest of the day picking glue off my fingers. i didn't want to where the pants to the party i was supposed to be getting ready for, in the off chance that they would be super glued to my.... uh..., to me.
but later that night i checked them out. the half inch radius around the whole was dark, like it was wet, but it was most certainly dry. i was sad. so before i threw them in the laundry pile to see if that would help (washing them, not just sitting in the laundry pile) i decided to maybe limber it up so i bent the little circle of dry glue and "CRACK" it broke. a big split like scissors had been taken to it. what?!!? so in a fit of sorrow and rage i threw them into a little heap on the ottoman and that was our farewell.
it wasn't what my jeans could do for me, it was what i could do for my jeans. and i broke them.

so now i am trying to think of a non cheesy way to memorialize them. i already made a pillow out of my favorite khakis i ever did own. maybe by the time i am done here my entire closet will have shape shifted into blankets and pillows and messenger bags....

Not gonna lie but I definitely thought of your khaki pillow this morning. I have no idea why and now I'm reading this and thinking how bizarre how bizarre.
