dr.kgb

so i have been a little under the weather for the past couple of months. nothing life threatening. just blah. recently whatever it is that has been sucking my life force reared it's head and pushed me into seeking medical help.
medical "help" is a cultural experience i have come to learn.
so we go to the clinic.
i see the doctor and list my symptoms and after some seemingly obscure off-topic questions, she tells me to come back tomorrow for blood work.
so i go back the next day and have blood taken.
she told me it would be helpful information for when i go to see the specialist.
she makes an appointment for the specialist.
today i went to the specialist.
i listed my symptoms and after sticking long instruments down into my ears and in my nose and throat.... the same instrument... in that order....
he began to question me.
as he proceeded in his interrogation i couldn't help but feel like i was being hassled by the KGB. it may have been the accent or the fact that he was trying to catch me in a lie with stellar tactics. unfortunately for him i was telling the truth about my conditions....
at any rate, he referred me to another doctor. and in the meantime prescribed some medicine to help a problem i explicitly said i didn't have.
"do you have trouble breathing through your nose?"
"no"
"you need to use this medicine. it vill help you to breath better."
the doctor he wants me to go to would be looking at a "problem" he found that really has nothing to do with the symptoms i gave him...
oh yeah and he never looked at the blood work that according to others indicates something more along the lines of my actual symptoms.
so i think i will just use some OTC's and self-medicate. if that doesn't work i will start the process again. i just love throwing denari down into the belly of this inefficient and unhelpful system. it's like a hobby.

Em!! sounds shady. Have you tried webmd on the internets? Normally I don't advocate self-diagnosis via the web, but at least it actually correlates illnesses to the actual symptoms you give... feel better!

Have exactly the same frustration at this very moment because of a dr's appt yesterday. 4000 denars later and I know nothing more about my symptoms. GRRR.

Emily, I will email you my sister's info. She is a physician and I am sure she can help you. Also the drawings and the Nightmare on Goat Street pictures were informative and entertaining. :)

Too bad, Emily. Sorry you are dealing with those frustrations.
